Lesson 2: Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

Main text and related passages:

Checkout the following:

    • Matthew places this after Jesus learns that John the Baptist has been beheaded.
    • Mark and Luke place this both after the Baptist’s death and after the apostles’ return.
    • John’s Gospel doesn’t relate this to either of those events.
    • Jesus wants to focus on his disciples, but he serves the crowd anyway.
    • Jesus teaches the crowd about the Kingdom of God.
    • Jesus challenges the disciples after their successful mission.
    • Jesus works with what they have – not with what they don’t.
